According to "The 2012b Update of the M8-MSc predictions" (sent on Friday, July 20, 2012) two of them fall into the Test area considered while the other two happened in the areas where the rate of reported earthquakes is not enough for application of the M8 algorithm. Specifically:
  1. The 14 August 2012, Magnitude 7.7 SEA OF OKHOTSK deep earthquake falls outside Global Test area;
  2. the 31 August 2012, Magnitude 7.6 PHILIPPINE ISLANDS REGION earthquake happened is failure-to-predict although its epicenter misses the area of M8 TIP in CI # 60 just by less than 70 km;
  3. the 05 September 2012, Magnitude 7.6 COSTA RICA earthquake confirms the M8 diagnosis of TIP in CI # 124;
  4. the 28 October 2012, Magnitude 7.7 QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS REGION earthquake falls outside Global Test area.
