WAVENUMBERS IN THE PROBLEM OF VIBRATIONS OF A LIQUID LAYER ON AN ELASTIC HALF-SPACE

Abstract

We study the existence of complex wavenumbers in the problem of vibrations of a liquid layer on an elastic half-space. The main result is a proof of absence of complex wavenumbers for the case of vibrations decreasing with depth in the half-space. The low-frequency asymptotics is also obtained for complex wavenumbers corresponding to solutions that increase with depth in the half-space.
