CRITICAL EFFECTS IN HIERARCHICAL MEDIA

Abstract

We study a general model of defects developing in hierarchical self-similar media. We establish the existence of a critical value of defect generation rate at the lowest level. This value is a root of the derivative of a function explicitly defined by the model.
