Abstract

We apply the statistical analysis of point fields to the study of earthquake distributions in time and space. We propose a new algorithm for detecting seismic migration. In contrast to existing algorithms, the proposed algorithm provides the possibility to consider spatial and temporal variations in distributions of events distributions when testing hypotheses for migration. We used this algorithm to analyze the properties of seismic migration in the circum-Pacific belt for the period from 1900 to 1996.
